Jane Andrewartha, a solicitor and partner of Clyde & Co, has been involved in mediation since 1995 when involved in one of the first major English mediations in the insurance sector, a £30m tripartite non-marine insurance action. 

She was trained by CEDR and accredited as a mediator in June 1996 since when she has been involved as mediator in over 400 mediations covering a wide variety of commercial disputes frequently of a complex, international or multi-party nature. She is increasingly appointed as mediator, whether sole mediator, co-mediator in parallel mediations, to deal with large numbers of participants, often involving several sets of different judicial processes. 

Jane has mediated disputes involving aviation, banking and finance, business contracts, construction disputes, commodities, employment, insurance and reinsurance, lender liability, marine and energy disputes, professional liability, partnership/joint ventures and transportation. She also sits as Arbitrator and has acted as Early Neutral Evaluator and settlement counsel. 

In terms of her other experiences and skills, Jane spent ten years as a legal advisor (pro bono) to a Citizens’ Advice Bureau dealing with employment/housing/discrimination issues. She is widely travelled for business purposes, particularly in Latin America, Europe, the USA and the Far East, and trained in cross-cultural and cross-border disputes. 

Jane has considerable financial and management experience (former head of Latin American office, former head of Arbitration and Finance Partner on Clyde & Co’s Management Board for 9 years).
