Stephen Ruttle was called to the Bar in 1978 and was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 1997. His practice has been predominantly commercial with particular emphasis on shipping, insurance and reinsurance work.

He was accredited by CEDR in 1998 and now spends almost all his time acting as a mediator. He has mediated over 300 disputes involving sums in dispute of up to £200m. The balance of his time (15% or so) is spent acting as an Arbitrator.

Stephen is involved in the wider mediation world as Director of Mediation UK, the national community mediation organisation. He is the founder director of Wandsworth Mediation Services, a community mediation service. He is a member of both the Bar ADR Committee and the Civil Justice Council ADR sub-committee.
